DAY 1

Cusco - Mollepata - Humantay Lake - Salkantay Pampa Camp

Our bus will pick you up from your hotel in the center of Cusco to take you to the town of Mollepata (2900 masl) where we will arrive approximately at 7:30 in the morning.

DAY 2

Salkantay Pampa Camp – Abra Salkantay - Huayracmachay – Chawllay

Today, nature will change drastically from dry sceneries to snowy peaks and tropical areas. It is truly magical! After a nutritious breakfast, we will start the most difficult part of the trek.

DAY 3

Chawllay – Collpapampa - La Playa – Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes.

At 06:00 AM, we will wake you up with a cup of coca tea,after we will have our breakfast, at 7:00 we are going to start our trek to the Asmall town of La Playa through the Santa Teresa valley.

DAY 4

Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Today, we will start early at around 4:30 a.m. to take the Inca Stairs up to Machu Picchu. In Machu Picchu, we will have a guided tour for about 2 hours.

DAY 1
Cusco - Mollepata - Humantay Lake - Salkantay Pampa Camp

We will leave from Cusco approximately between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Our bus will pick you up from your hotel in the centre of Cusco to take you to the town of Mollepata (2900 masl) where we will arrive approximately at 6:30 in the morning. On the way you have all the time to get to know your fellow travellers as we will stay in the same group during the full trek. At Mollepata we will stop for breakfast, last minute supplies, leg-stretching and to use the restrooms. We will continue to our trek starting point, Challacancha (3850 meters above sea level). We will meet with our support staff such as the cook and muleters. They will load the general equipment and our duffel bags on horses and mules. Around 8:30 a.m., we’ll begin hike for around 90 minutes to the famous Humantay Lake. On our way we will have a beautiful view of the majestic Apu Salkantay, other mountains covered with snow, and the beautiful Valley of the Apurimac River, after we will come back untill
Soraypampa then we are going to cotinues our hike untill Salkantay Pampa Camp, there we will have our restfull lunch. In the afternoon we will have tea time and dinner. You’ll sleep in the Eureka tent covered with a real Andean Huts a truly unique camping experience to permit you to enjoy the andean life.

DAY 2
Salkantay Pampa Camp – Abra Salkantay - Huayracmachay – Chawllay

Today, nature will change drastically from dry sceneries to snowy peaks and tropical areas. It is truly magical! After a nutritious breakfast, we will start the most difficult part of the trek. We’ll start the hike around 7:00 a.m. to walk for about 3 hours, gradually ascending, until reaching the highest point (4600 meters above sea level). We will appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snowy peaks of the Salkantay (6264 masl) which is known as the second highest point of the Cusco region. After it goes all the way down for 3 hours and around 1:00 p.m., we will have our lunch in the local small community called Huayracmachay. After another walk of approximately 3 hours, we will arrive to our camp site in Chawllay (2900 masl). Around 5:00 p.m., we will have our tea time. You’ll also have the well-deserved time to recuperate from the trek, take a shower and eat dinner before going to our tents.

DAY 3
Chawllay – Collpapampa - La Playa – Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes.

At 06:00 AM, we will wake you up with a cup of coca tea,after we will have our breakfast, at 7:00 we are going to start our trek to the Asmall town of La Playa through the Santa Teresa valley. You will be able to soak up this new, lush landscape during our 6 hours of hiking today! During the hike we will see rivers, waterfalls, wild orchids, and plantations of coffee, banana, and avocado. You can taste the famous passion fruit and granadilla fruit along the way! We will see a village called Colpapampa, also called the “brow of the cloud forest,” where waterfalls, birds, hot springs, fruit-bearing trees, and flora and fauna can be observed. If we are lucky, we will even be able to see the beauful bird called “The Cock of the Rocks,” the naonal bird of Peru! After a hearty lunch at Santa Teresa, we will take local transportaon to the Hidroelectrica train staon. Here you will have two opons: 1. If you are exhausted, you may take the train to Aguas Calientes ($34.00 extra). 2. If you are sll eager to hike, you may walk from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes for about 3 hours along the train track. There is a nice path next to the tracks through the warm paradise of the cloud forest. This is the same trail used by the American professor Hiram Bingham who rediscovered Machu Picchu aer centuries of it being lost to the outside world! Once in Aguas Calientes, you can rest a bit before dinner or walk around this alluring place that has the feel of a California Gold Rush town. There are no cars in Aguas Calientes, so it is an especially peaceful place to be. At 7:00 PM, we will have dinner at a local restaurant. All the expenses in Aguas Calientes are covered by the company, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the overnight stay at our hostel. In your luxury room, you will have a private bathroom, hot shower, wifi, breakfast in the morning, and luggage storage while you visit Machu Picchu.

DAY 4
Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Today, we will start early at around 4:30 a.m. to take the Inca Stairs up to Machu Picchu. In Machu Picchu, we will have a guided tour for about 2 hours. After we’ll be free to explore the citadel further and take more pictures. If you have the energy, we can recommend the walk up to the Sun Gate or ascent toward Huayna Picchu Mountain (you will need a
previous reservation to access Huayna Picchu) before walking back down. Later today, around noon you will have to start walking back to Hydroelectrica to catch the 3 pm
transport back to Cusco where we arrive around 9 – 11 pm. For sure you will enjoy a great night’s rest after this amazing trekking experience!
